About Lord of the Craft

Lord of the Craft is a whitelisted hardcore roleplay server where players stay permanently in character within a medieval fantasy world. The word hardcore refers to the roleplay standard rather than the difficulty. Breaking character is not the norm here, and the expectation is that you speak, act and make decisions as your character would — including when it is inconvenient for you. That is a substantially higher bar than servers where roleplay is an optional overlay, and it produces a correspondingly different atmosphere. Entry runs through a whitelist application rather than an open address. Gatekeeping of this kind is unusual and deliberate: a persistent narrative world is fragile, and a single participant unwilling to take it seriously can undermine hours of collective effort. Applying is a filter for commitment, and it is the reason the standard holds. Characters develop along whatever path emerges rather than through defined classes. A persona might end up farming, running a tavern, hunting, pursuing magic or accumulating enough political support to rule, and those outcomes are produced by other players recognising them rather than by any progression system. Authority exists because people acknowledge it. The world is long-established, with accumulated history, geography and precedent that new characters enter rather than create — which supplies immediate context but also means learning what has already happened. mc.lotc.co is the address, on Minecraft 1.21, Java Edition only. This is the most demanding server type in Minecraft and the least suited to casual joining. It asks for sustained investment in a fiction alongside other people, and returns something no conventional survival server can produce — but only for players who genuinely want that. Anyone whose interest in roleplay is occasional will find the in-character requirement wearing rather than immersive, and the application process exists partly to make that clear in advance.
