Best 1.9 Servers

Minecraft 1.9, the Combat Update, introduced the controversial new combat system with attack cooldowns, dual wielding, shields, and sweeping attacks. It also added the End dimension overhaul with end cities, end ships, shulkers, the elytra wings, and the dragon fight rework.

The combat changes divided the community — some players prefer the strategic, timing-based combat of 1.9+, while others prefer the fast-paced clicking of 1.8. This split led to many PvP servers staying on 1.8 while PvE and survival servers embraced the new system.

The elytra, found in end ships, became one of the most iconic items in Minecraft history, enabling players to glide and later fly with firework rockets. End cities provide challenging late-game content with valuable shulker loot.
