Where testing's numbers come from
Every figure on this page comes from MCVoting pinging testing directly, around the clock. Nothing here is supplied by the server as a claim about itself without being checked first.
The measurement
- We ping the server on a five-minute cycle, which is roughly 288 probes a day. Over the last 31 days we made 8,819 of them and reached testing on 8,666.
- Uptime is the one figure a server cannot influence. It is our probe success rate — how often we got an answer — not anything the server reports about itself. Right now that is 98.3%.
- Player counts are checked before we publish them. A server states its own population in its status response, and some overstate it heavily. We discard any sample above 250,000, or more than ten times that server's own daily median, and we drop those readings rather than rewriting them — a clipped number would just be our invention in place of theirs.
- Peak and typical are computed from what survives that filter, so a figure here can sit below what the server itself advertises. If it does, the difference is the part we could not verify.
